If DLP projectors are your thing, Toshiba’s got you covered with two new devices. The TDP-EW25 gets you a WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution, 2600 lumen, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio image, while the TDP-EX20 gets you all the same specs, albeit with a reduced resolution XGA (1024 x 768), and 2300 lumen picture. The TDP-EW25 claims a 1.2 meter throw distance (according to Toshiba, an industry first, which ain’t quite right), while the TDP-EX20 1.5m throw. Both projectors also supposedly support networked projection, but we don’t have confirmation on that, besides the translated mention of Vista and Ethernet. The TDP-EW25 goes on sale in Japan on October 25th for ¥449,400 (about $3,900 US), while its less powerful brother the TDP-EX20 will retail for ¥386,400 (about $3,400 US) when it goes on sale September 20th.

It took a little while to get it out of Korea, but iriver is finally giving the B20 DMB TV some circulation come September. With the still-sexy looks of the original Clix, plus hot DAB / DMB / FM tuners and full-fledged PMP function, there’s a lot to love about the new DAP. The 2.4-inch screen does it up QVGA, and there’s a pop-up antenna hidden in the back. It comes in 2GB and 4GB flavors, and includes an SD card slot if that’s not enough to satisfy. We’re hearing 27 hours of battery life, but no precise launch date or price info just yet.

Not a ton of new specs to behold on this new Blu-ray player, but Philips’s BDP7100 does everything it should (1080p output, HDMI CEC, 24p, True HD, and DTS HD support). No word if it’s got HDMI v1.3 or Blu-ray 1.1, and Philips also neglected to mention the price and availability of this new Blu-ray player of theirs, but we still dutifully thank them for their morsels of information and sheepishly ask for a second helping of porridge, kind sirs. One more image after the break.

We’ve seen a lot of all-electric cars come and go, but scant few from the major automotive manufacturers — aside from the EV1, of course — so Nissan’s Mixim concept caught our eye with more than just its swoopy lines . The baby hatchback weighs just 2100 pounds and clocks in at a tiny 145 inches end-to-end — but inside that diminutive shell you’ll find seats for three, a lithium-ion battery pack and two Nissan “Super Motors” that provide the Mixim with all-wheel-drive. Since it’s a concept, it’s got to have a crazy interior, and and the central driving position and video game-influenced controls don’t disappoint — welcome to Blade Runner, kids. The Mixim is just a concept, but here’s hoping the next all-electric car from a major manufacturer we hear about will be ready for the street.

Want to see the glass behind the iPhone’s multi-touch panel? Well this ain’t it, it’s better. Sharp — one of Apple’s iPhone panel providers — just unveiled their newest 3.5-inch, 320 x 480 pixel resolution multi-touch panel which does what its predecessor did in just half the thickness. The new 1-mm depth was achieved by integrating the photodetector into each pixel while incorporating scanning functionality for fingerprint authentication or barcode and business card scanning. Right, with the appropriate underlying software of course. Sharp expects to adapt the new technology to multi-touch, glass panels as large as 12.1-inches. Sample LCDs will be made available in September before mass production beings in the Spring of 2008.

Researchers at USC have taken another step towards that holiest of sci-fi dreams: the 3D holographic display. Using a spinning mirror covered with a “holographic diffuser,” a special DVI implementation, and a high-speed projector, the team’s device can project a three-dimensional image that can be viewed from 360 degrees — regardless of the viewer’s height and distance. That’s impressive, but that spinning mirror looks pretty dangerous. Check a video of the system in action after the break.

The goods from Philips just keep on comin’, but it’s not like we’re kvetching or anything. On deck is the WAC3500D, the firm’s latest Streamium home stereo, which weds an 80GB internal hard drive, iPod connectivity, and a USB port to create a fairly well appointed audio center. Additionally, the device touts the ability to “receive, play, and store MP3 or WMA tracks saved on a PC,” rip CDs to the HDD in a variety of bitrates, and view ID3 tags on the backlit LCD. All music kept on the system can be wirelessly streamed “to up to five WiFi stations located anywhere in the house,” and the built-in Class D digital amplifier drives the dual two-ways speakers. Currently, the WAC3500D is available in Europe for around £260 ($522).

Sandisk just kicked out a quartet of announcements for IFA. First up, an 8GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card for use (primarily) in Sony Ericsson’s cellphones expected sometime in Q4. Yeah, that’s the world’s highest capacity M2 card in case you’re wondering. Also of significance is their new 2GB to 8GB uSSD 5000 Solid State Disks which measure just one-fourth the size of a 1.8-inch SSD. The new uSSD is meant for sub $250 PCs with SanDisk specifically calling out Intel’s Classmate PC. We bet you’ll find it bunged inside the Eee PC as well. Also announced are a $30 Multi Card Expresscard adapter and new high-performance $80 4GB SDHC Plus and $160 8GB Memory Stick Pro Duo cards from their Ultra II lineup.

Shortly after loosing a slew of AMD-based desktops, HP and Compaq have now unleashed a trio of Pavilion and Presario laptops powered by Advanced Micro Devices. The 17-inch Pavilion dv9500z series offers up a nice selection of AMD Turion 64 X2 processors, Windows Vista, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (or optional 8400M GS), WiFi / Bluetooth, a built-in webcam and microphone, an optional Verizon Wireless V740 ExpressCard, up to 500GB of HDD storage, a dual-layer DVD writer (or a HD DVD reading drive), and an eight-cell Li-ion to boot. The slightly smaller (that’s 15.4-inches, for those keeping count) Pavilion dv6500z series offers up a fairly similar array of specs in a more compact chassis, while the lower-end 15.4-inch Compaq Presario V6500Z series steps down to an AMD Sempron and offers up less upgrades. All three units can be ordered right now through HP’s website, and while the Compaq unit starts at $499, the dv6500z and dv9500z get going at $749.99 and $999.99, respectively.

Just as HP reportedly delayed its own Windows Home Server-based device, Medion’s iteration is getting all fleshed out, so let’s get right down to the dirt, shall we? Apparently, the MD 90110 will feature an AMD Sempron 64 or Intel P4 LGA 775, an AMD RS-690 / Intel 945GC chipset, be based on a MicroATX motherboard, and include 1GB of RAM, between 500GB and 2TB of RAID storage space, an eSATA port, gigabit Ethernet, and four USB 2.0 connectors. Additionally, users can look forward to “screwless internal hard drive bays,” a recovery button, HDD status LEDs, and a variety of configurations to fit your needs (and budget). Per usual, there’s no hard data available just yet in regard to pricing or release dates, but we’ll keep you posted.
