It took a little while to get it out of Korea, but iriver is finally giving the B20 DMB TV some circulation come September. With the still-sexy looks of the original Clix, plus hot DAB / DMB / FM tuners and full-fledged PMP function, there’s a lot to love about the new DAP. The 2.4-inch screen does it up QVGA, and there’s a pop-up antenna hidden in the back. It comes in 2GB and 4GB flavors, and includes an SD card slot if that’s not enough to satisfy. We’re hearing 27 hours of battery life, but no precise launch date or price info just yet.

Office Depot Featured Gadget: Xbox 360 Platinum System Packs the power to bring games to life!

Not a ton of new specs to behold on this new Blu-ray player, but Philips’s BDP7100 does everything it should (1080p output, HDMI CEC, 24p, True HD, and DTS HD support). No word if it’s got HDMI v1.3 or Blu-ray 1.1, and Philips also neglected to mention the price and availability of this new Blu-ray player of theirs, but we still dutifully thank them for their morsels of information and sheepishly ask for a second helping of porridge, kind sirs. One more image after the break.

Want to see the glass behind the iPhone’s multi-touch panel? Well this ain’t it, it’s better. Sharp — one of Apple’s iPhone panel providers — just unveiled their newest 3.5-inch, 320 x 480 pixel resolution multi-touch panel which does what its predecessor did in just half the thickness. The new 1-mm depth was achieved by integrating the photodetector into each pixel while incorporating scanning functionality for fingerprint authentication or barcode and business card scanning. Right, with the appropriate underlying software of course. Sharp expects to adapt the new technology to multi-touch, glass panels as large as 12.1-inches. Sample LCDs will be made available in September before mass production beings in the Spring of 2008.

Sandisk just kicked out a quartet of announcements for IFA. First up, an 8GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card for use (primarily) in Sony Ericsson’s cellphones expected sometime in Q4. Yeah, that’s the world’s highest capacity M2 card in case you’re wondering. Also of significance is their new 2GB to 8GB uSSD 5000 Solid State Disks which measure just one-fourth the size of a 1.8-inch SSD. The new uSSD is meant for sub $250 PCs with SanDisk specifically calling out Intel’s Classmate PC. We bet you’ll find it bunged inside the Eee PC as well. Also announced are a $30 Multi Card Expresscard adapter and new high-performance $80 4GB SDHC Plus and $160 8GB Memory Stick Pro Duo cards from their Ultra II lineup.

Shortly after loosing a slew of AMD-based desktops, HP and Compaq have now unleashed a trio of Pavilion and Presario laptops powered by Advanced Micro Devices. The 17-inch Pavilion dv9500z series offers up a nice selection of AMD Turion 64 X2 processors, Windows Vista, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (or optional 8400M GS), WiFi / Bluetooth, a built-in webcam and microphone, an optional Verizon Wireless V740 ExpressCard, up to 500GB of HDD storage, a dual-layer DVD writer (or a HD DVD reading drive), and an eight-cell Li-ion to boot. The slightly smaller (that’s 15.4-inches, for those keeping count) Pavilion dv6500z series offers up a fairly similar array of specs in a more compact chassis, while the lower-end 15.4-inch Compaq Presario V6500Z series steps down to an AMD Sempron and offers up less upgrades. All three units can be ordered right now through HP’s website, and while the Compaq unit starts at $499, the dv6500z and dv9500z get going at $749.99 and $999.99, respectively.

On the Medallia blog, Erling Ellingsen has been monkeying around with the accelerometer on the iPhone, some applications of which he demos in the above video. He writes:

As it turns out, the iPhone has a built-in LIS302DL, a tiny 3-axis accelerometer. While some have attempted to use it from within the Safari browser (the Tilt game detects changes to the width of the browser page; it is basically used as a 1-bit input device), its potential is still somewhat untapped. After a rather lengthy bout of reverse-engineering (I had barely touched ARM assembly before this), I finally figured out how to access the raw data from the accelerometer itself, as can be seen in the video above. Source code is posted here. (update: yes, it is possible to access the accelerometer directly through UIKit without this hack — however, you’ll be locked to the default sample rate, which is too slow for some of the fun stuff)

Philips hopes to put an end to the chaos of having a different charger for every device you own, but unfortunately the “solution” includes eight different confusing product options to get that juice to your gadgets. The new Power2Charge line consists of five different chargers, two for plugging into you car, and three plugging into the wall. The Power2Charge line flagship is the SCM7880, which includes the universal USB charging kit of its buddies, six connector tips, and fifteen extra hours of battery for up to 5V of power. If a portable battery is more your style, Philips’ Power2Go line, headed by the pictured SCE7640, includes power packs across the board, all the way up to 21V and 60 hours. Both the Power2Charge and Power2Go lines include some snazzy looks and LED charge indicator lights, but it remains to be seen if these things can indeed rescue us from charger hell.

Daewoo DBP-1000 Blu-ray Disc player
Straight from IFA 2007 in Berlin comes Daewoo’s surprise entry into the Blu-ray camp with the company’s first player, the DBP-1000. Interestingly, even though Daewoo is probably more well-known for their Trutech ODM devices — or even their autos — this player supposedly supports the full 2.0 Profile for Blu-ray Disc, including BD Live internet functionality, picture-in-picture, and local storage. Pricing and availability are nowhere to be found, but it won’t be soon enough for Blu-ray fans to see players with that interactive functionality built-in like competing HD DVD players have. Another picture after the jump.

A completely unsubstantiated rumor floating among day traders has RIM stock up a pretty penny today, suggesting that Microsoft may be looking to acquire Waterloo’s finest in response to Google’s meddling in the mobile space. At this point, pundits seem to be merely saying that it “makes sense,” not that they’ve actually caught wind of anything substantial — but we’re kinda hoping Microsoft doesn’t get any ideas here. We’re not seeing Microsoft pushing a non-Windows Mobile based platform onto licensees any time soon — particularly one that relies as heavily on Java as the BlackBerry OS does — and a BlackBerry-branded device running Windows Mobile makes about as much sense as a Mac running Wind… oh, wait.

Garmin has unloaded some big GPS guns in your direction — taking the form of the nüvi 750, 760, and 770 — and life as we know it will never be the same. According to those “in the know,” the new units feature settings which allow you to store up to ten commonly (or uncommonly) used routes, plus the little 4.3-inch-widescreen-havin’ guys will also sort routes for multiple destinations — a feature which has been lacking in past models. The 700-series also gets upgraded here-and-there by way of added information like speed limits for highways and interstates, and a unique feature which helps you find your car in mall parking lots by marking the spot in which the nüvi was removed from the car. All three of the new units provide an FM transmitter for broadcasting voices and music to your stereo, and the 760 and 770 models include Bluetooth support, so you can rock extra-safe, hands-free driving when you’re making your next big excursion. The nüvi 750, 760 and 770 will be available in the 4th quarter of 2007 for $642.85, $857.13, and $1071.42, respectively.
